My name is Lushima Lumumba-Kasongo, creator of Black N BLu. I am a long time martial artist who has seen and experienced the joy of it throughout those years, looking to help people on their way to discovering martial arts. I have also served as a member of safety and security for individuals and groups.
I also understand the barriers people can experience in our journeys. This can be due to the many walls in our society.
The mission of Black n BLu is to provide the Ithaca and upstate area with quality and accessible martial arts resources and opportunities, as well as safety and security through solid organizing.
Courses, training, and coaching!
Whether you’re looking to learn martial arts, looking to get in shape, prepping for combat sports competition, or challenging yourself, Black ‘n’ BLu offers classes and individualized training. We will connect you with equipment, routines, partners, and coaching.
Event and space security.
We provide security for individuals or events, focusing on social freedom and activism within the Upstate NY area. Discretion is absolutely at the client’s comfort level. We also connect with other security professionals in the area and, depending on needs, organize a team.
School workshops & performances!
In addition to martial arts, Lushima is a theater performer, and in working with the youth in the community, there’s great overlap. We offer a number of community and school activities with a larger focus on awareness, respect, consent, and safety.
